JumpBack

JumpBack lets you hyperlink back to the point in a document or book where you first activated a link

Debugging generated lists such as a Table of Contents or Index in FrameMaker is greatly simplified by the Ctrl+Alt+click shortcut that activates the hyperlink and jumps to the destination of the link:

A typical bug in a TOC

But once you have activated the link and corrected the fault, FrameMaker disappoints when it comes to returning you to the generated list so that you can continue debugging. FrameMaker does not supply a keyboard shortcut, so you must resort to juggling windows to display the generated list again.

JumpBack is the solution. It "remembers" the last hypertext link that you activated and returns you to the original place in the document or book. For single operations, you can simply choose the Jump Back Now menu option.

Alternatively, if you are debugging long lists and are likely to need to jump back frequently, you can choose the Display Window menu option to display a small modeless dialog box:

The Jump Back Window

You can move this window to a convenient place on your desktop and click Jump Back to return to the source of the link.

JumpBack places the last 25 links you activate on a stack, so that if you need to "surf" across many links in a document to find the information you want, you can easily retrace your steps by repeatedly clicking the Jump Back command. When the stack is empty, the menu option and the button on the window are deactivated.
